“WASHINGTON, D.C. — Cazenovia businessman Steve Wells has pulled into a statistical tie with state Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney in the Republican primary in the 22nd Congressional District, according to a new poll made public Friday.
Tenney (32 percent) and Wells (31 percent) have distanced themselves from a third candidate, history teacher George Phillips (13 percent) of Endwell, according to the independent poll conducted by Liberty Opinion Research of Buffalo.
The poll found 24 percent of the likely Republican primary voters remain undecided less than two weeks before the June 28 primary to fill the open seat of retiring Rep Richard Hanna, R-Barneveld.
